Importance of Watching Your Skin for Changes

Skin Care in Your 40's: What You Should Know

Skin care at any age is very important. You need to pay close attention to growths, your moles, or anything new on your skin. As you age, you're going to notice even more things on your skin, including sunspots and wrinkles. If you're in your 40's, for instance, you'll notice a lot of differences in your skin that you need to pay attention to and it's time to start a skin care regimen to help prevent wrinkles, to fight sunspots, and to even out your skin tone. Read on for tips to care for your skin if you're in your 40's.

Apply Night Cream

You need to start using a night cream around the eyes and maybe even the forehead to alleviate puffiness, even skin tone, and prevent wrinkles. Look for a night cream that contains retinol. Apply the night cream each and every night as a part of your nightly routine.

Wash Your Face Nightly

Wash your face each night and day. You need to wash your face at night to wash away the makeup and dirt from throughout the day on your face. If you sleep with your makeup on, all of the oil from the makeup and dirt will settle into the pores of your face, as well as set into the wrinkles. This can cause your pores to worsen and get larger, and can also cause your wrinkles to worsen as well. You're also going to open yourself up to acne issues (even though you're in your 40's) if you aren't washing your face as you should. Wash your face with a gentle face wash - don't use soap, which can dry out your skin.

Use Sunscreen

Those days of sitting in the sun that you did in your teens and twenties are long gone, now is the time to put on sunscreen daily to help protect your skin from the sun. Wear a sheer sunscreen on your face that isn't oily to prevent acne breakouts. Too much sun will lead to premature wrinkles and the harmful rays can cause skin cancer. Apply sunscreen daily or whenever you are out in the sun. You should use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 50 on your skin.
